For the conversions, you need a codec (format conversion file). The new Lame mp3 converter is probably among the best. there was an older version that was described as poor and this may be your problem. You can read more about them at

http://www.free-codecs.com/download/Lame_Encoder.htm

and download from there as well. I use Audacity all the time to convert and edit to length MP3 files as well as WMA and a WAV formats. All have good fideltity with the Lame that I am useing.

Subject: PCWorks: Music question

I have RealPlayer and ITunes and my question is if I download music
that is ACC protected is there a way to change the format to MP3? So
far I can't find a way and I guess the only thing I must do is before
I download change my settings to MP3 encode for importing a song. The
problem is that I use both MP3 and Ipod which is another different
format. Thanks
Yes, listen to the music via your computer and use audacity to make your
music into an mp3...

You'll also need to download lame:

Babs

Babs, I found the file I needed and downloaded it so Audacity could find it. I
then open a song in audacity told it to convert it to MP3 and my player
recoginzes it but when I play it it sounds like some undescripable sound. I
must have missed something.
Thanks
Larry
