Right, Hugh. However, I'm dealing with a user who is not at all computer savvy. He is familiar with his antiquated DOS-based foreign language word processor (that uses non-English characters) and he does not want to learn about Windows or deal with it <sigh!>.
The options to restart in DOS or Command mode would be fine for the rest of us. I need to avoid Windows in order to make my client happy. He's stuck in the previous millenium. The startup disk is an option that I had not considered. Thank you. If I can't find a way to edit the MSDOS.SYS, I'll go that route. I once knew how to edit MSDOS.SYS. There is a way. I forgot how to do it over the past decade.... I would assume you could then launch it from there. Safe Mode has a DOS option also. Have you tried Start/Run/Command? You should also be able to create a startup disk, boot to the A drive, then C:. What program is it?
