following the method described in the install.txt in Miller's tar-ball 
Puredata 0.47-1
including the 'make -f install .....' works for me on Pi3 Raspbian 
Jessie.

(@Dan it starts with ./autogen.sh)
NB i'm not completely sure i didn't install some extra packages earlier 
on,
like 'devscripts' e.g..
