just to chime in with a third reply from within the Alpenrepublik™:

There is the often overlooked latency.pd test patch in 7.stuff/tools
which allows you to measure audio roundtrip latency. By doing so you
might be able to tell how much of latency is the audio versus the midi
part of pd.
