Thanks, Rich, I learned a couple things here by following your advice.

To get the most accurate, vibrant colors I need to convert images to CMYK
and also to tif format before importing them into Quark.

Thanks for the help.

Brad

Here's the good news, Brad.

There's nothing wrong with your PDF, except that the CMYK image is only 150
dpi (which might be what you want).

It's a little faded, but PDFs never look on screen like they will print. I
printed it to my Epson C80, and it looks great.

Here's test you can try for yourself:

Right click on the PDF and open it with Photoshop (150 dpi, CMYK). Scoot
the
image over to the left of your monitor. Now open your PDF and compare the
two side-by-side. The Photoshop image should be slightly more intense and
"brighter." Sent to the same printer, they should both appear similar.

I was expecting something a lot worse.

Just for fun, you might want to try making a PDF starting with a RGB image,
and then make your PDF using the Standard job options (make sure the color
space is RGB). This one may be brighter, I don't know. Make sure, however,
if you're going to press that you're working in the CMYK color space.

Hope this helps.

Rich

Subject: Faded Quark files

Attached is a sample document I made today from Quark. Just can't figure
out
why "everything" is faded.

Thanks for taking a look.
