In my experience it is usually because the creator has not printed the
source file to postscript to a watched folder in the proper manner and
ensured that the job options are correct in distiller. Under pressure
operators are susceptible to 'one touch' pdf creation which often works
for composite printing or mono lasers but not for cmyk RIPS.

Subject: [PDF] Mystery PS Error

Hello All,

I work with many PDF's, produced by different clients/platforms. Some
will not print or postscript, causing Quark to quit or return the
dreaded Post Script Error. I flightcheck the PDF's and everything seems
to be fine (ie fonts are embedded or subset). Does anyone know of a
common reason for this or a way for me to see what's wrong?

PS
Rasterising the files in Photoshop does the trick, but I want to avoid
rasterising small/thin type.

Thanks,
