I asked:

Is there any way to rotate an image in
                increments smaller than one degree?

Leonard Rosenthol replied:

What type of image? Is this a raster image
that you've placed into the source document
and then PDF'd? If so, just fix it in the
                original and recreate the PDF...

No, it's pages of a paper document that were printed
slightly askew. Theoretically, one could keep
moving the paper around on the scanner glass until
it was just right, but that could waste a lot of
        time -- and patience.

Is there a way to start with a very-high-
quality PDF and work down to an acceptable
size, comparing the results as you go?

                        Sure. Adobe Acrobat 6 Professional
has a feature called PDF Optimizer,

Thanks -- I'll upgrade (from 5.0).

and then there are also 3rd party products
                such as our PDF Enhancer
                http://www.pdfsages.com/enhancer.html)

Will try the demo. Thanks!
