What do you mean "get the wrong fonts"?
Are you checking the "embed fonts" option in the Illustrator "Save" dialog? Is Futura licensed for embedding?
If I "print" a PS file and then Distill it, one of two things happen. The fonts also come out wrong. Or, more commonly, I get the message that the job cannot process because PDFLib failed to initialize.
Can you post the EXACT error messages from Distiller?
In the print dialog, if I choose either File with the format PDF or choose Save As PDF... from the bottom, I get PDFs that look OK overall but with all the type rasterized at a low to medium resolution (maybe 200 ppi).
Doing that means going through the Mac OS X Quartz PDF generator which isn't really "in touch" with how Illustrator works.
If I don't see other suggestions, I'll substitute a Bitstream Futura family and see how that goes.
