as there are large number of PDF files in the computer science,
mathematics, and physics communities produced with (La)TeX and a
DVI-to-PostScript or DVI-to-PDF driver that uses bitmap fonts; such
PDF files are displayed poorly by versions of Acrobat Reader 5.x or
earlier:
