I'm not sure what is going on but

1. It does sound like more of a system problem. Run Disk Warrior, Tech Tools or Norton Utilities.
2. Something simple to do, but unlikely to be the problem, is corrupt preference file. Delete any preference files (System-Preferences) associated with Acrobat, reboot and relaunch program to see if problem is gone.
3. Did you install any new programs, fonts, control panels, delete and reboot?
4. My highest suspicion would go to a corrupt font which is a tedious problem to solve, unless you have a back up of system folder or fonts folder before the problem started. If you have have back-up replace. Otherwise, systematically remove fonts and launch acrobat to see if problem persist. I'd look at those fonts you were using in your document, but there is no guarantee that these are the culprits.

I hope y'all can help me, my IT guy wasn't in yesterday and may not be there
today.
Starting Friday, when I tried to open some pdf's, I recieved the message
(don't have the exact wording here) that they were temporary files and could
not be opened. They weren't.
I re-booted, was able to open a few, then the same message. I looked in my
trash & there were 2 'recoved files from....', trashed them & that seemed to
allow me to continue working. Then yesterday, the same thing kept happening.
This time there were no recoved files. Each time I would have to re-boot
only to have to re-boot after working a short while.

I didn't seem to be having trouble with any other app's, just Acrobat 5. I'm
running OS 9.2. I re-built my desktop, checked my connections, checked my
Acrobat memory. While our IT guy is a dear man, he is one the verge of
retiring & sometimes just has no interest in finding out what the heck is
really going on, so even if he's there today, I probably won't get an
answer.
Does this sound like an Acrobat or OS problem? Any direction would be so
greatly appriciated.
Thanks,
Jackie
