Dear PDF Zone,

Is anyone familiar with the PDF formats that iPlanet will successfully search?
I have been having problems with OmniPage pro PDF image on text file types. The
OmniPage Pro *.PDF files (PDF-Normal) types are indexed correctly.

Does anyone have a vocabulary to describe the various PDF file types?
It is sometimes hard to describe the differences in PDF functionality without defining
the various PDF forms.

I have been using the following terms because I read the terms at least once and they
seem descriptive.
Searchable PDFs:
PDF-Composition = A PDF created from an electronic text file that maintains editable
text.
PDF-Normal = A PDF file created by scanning a document then OCRing the text to form a
PDF that maintains editable text.
PDF-Searchable = A PDF created by scanning a document then OCRing the text to form a
PDF with an picture image of the page and searchable text unedit-able beneath the
image.

UnSearchable PDFs:
PDF - Image Only = A PDF created by scanning a page of images or text to form an
Picture of the Page.
PDF - Image Only = A PDF created by distilling an electronic Image to form a PDF with
no captured text.

Am I missing any.

Thanks,
Sam Brenner
