I guess the bigger question here is what is the purpose of the PDFs that they need bleed applied to them? Imposition or other layout placement? Simple printing? What?
If we knew what the intent was, then we would better understand how/why bleed is necessary.
And then the other part of that is whether the bleed is useful w/o an associated Trim (or Crop)?
