I think what Peter is saying is that the content for the bleed, as I have
stated previously, has to come from the layout application unless it is
solid color.

         Bleed (and associated Trim) are also used as part of imposition
systems - to be able to properly place one document into another.

         Also not true!

         Tools such as BoxEditor (Apago) and PitStop (Enfocus) can both add 
Bleed Boxes to documents...
