Hello,
I've just subscribed to this list and would like to say thanks in advance for a great resource!
I've searched some of the archives and come across this issue numerous times but didn't see an answer that helped me out. Mainly because all of the archives pertain to 5.0 or earlier.
I am using Acrobat 6.0 and will require Reader 6.0 for the CD product (Windows) that I will put out in January of next year. The search function is different than previous versions so what I did for earlier products will not work now. What I want to do is: index a collection of documents and use a "search" document - that is just another pdf kept in the same directory- that has the index that I created associated with it.
With the new Reader I have the "search" doc open (with my index associated with it) and a page open action that opens the search pane. Then because of the associated index there is a radio button that says "search 'my index'." That's all very doable until I move my collection of docs to a CD at which time I get the age old "index is not available" error.
I've tried using search.addindex method on a page open action to use a relative path but all that does is makes the index available (rather than actually associating the index) so the user would still have to go to the advanced search and choose the right index - which is out of the question.
I've talked with Adobe tech support and they told me that they could suggest this as an option for the next version of Acrobat! Thanks Adobe tech support! So I guess I need a _javascript_ that will do this, but have been unable to find anything beyond the search.addindex method.
I would appreciate any help!!
Thanks
Elly
