I did NOT give examples of tools for correcting incorrect format - but open source PDF parsers that you could use to find errors in your PDF. There are not any "PDF validation tools" on the market.

That is usually the case where Acrobat 4 was not following spec, and Acrobat 5 adhears closer to it - and Acrobat 6 even more so.



Is that why do you not add Acrobat to your list of parsers?
Why cannot Acrobat detect incorrect format?


Because Acrobat is NOT a validation tool. It accepts a LOT of broken PDFs - because it has to...
