Yes, Quite Revealing can convert all kinds of pattern and shading. The main limitation is that it won't convert one spot colour in a DeviceN group to process, while leaving another unconverted. In shading terms, if you had a shading from Spot Red to Spot Green, you would have to convert both or neither to process. Yes, it does indeed need a function evaluator, and a shading parser, and is a pretty substantial volume of code. Our function evaluator is around 10,000 lines of code, and there must be a good few companies that have now had to develop one...
