   I need a third-party API (preferably a static lib) capable of doing this since I can't rely on Acrobat full (or even the free version for that matter) being installed on the systems this will run on.
 
   All I need is the capability to "rebuild" a PDF after I've modified it (stripping out the unknown tag).  Do you know of something that would be suitable for this purpose?  The platform is Win32 and the language is C++.
 
   I've tried searching various PDF sites but I haven't found anything.

Sure, you can write a plugin for Acrobat that would load the PDF
and then resave it - during the resaving process it would fix things
up. Of course, that requires the FULL Acrobat installed on the computer...

Another option would be a 3rd party component that would load &
save...
