I have never told something like that. To be clear I am quoting myself:

" PDFedit selects text as it is organized. PDF creators are absolutely
free how do they organize text objects (which represent visible text)
into the visible text. Therefore we are able to select text only this
way.  "

This means that PDFedit handles text objects as they appear in the
content stream (pdf data structure which contains visible elements of
the page) without any higher-level logic. This, however, doesn't mean
that this is not possible. It just need to get implemented. And to be
honest, it is not easy to be done. 

Unfortunately, current man-power behind PDFedit project is less than
sufficient and we are able to do bug fixing and basic house-keeping.
So this feature (I admit that it is very useful) must wait until we or
someone else get to it.
