The PDL::FFTW that used to ship with PDL was built against (the old) version 2 of the fftw library. You can still grab that module from CPAN: http://search.cpan.org/~chm/PDL-FFTW-2.024/ But there's also: http://search.cpan.org/~etj/PDL-FFTW3-0.04/ which builds against version 3 of the fftw library - and is therefore the recommended PDL::FFTW module to install.
