Gee, I think I'd end up answering this question differently each time it were 
asked, from day to day.  And, of course, if I knew what I would likely be 
shooting ahead of time, I would try to tailor the trio to match the 
circumstances.  However, my current choice for a "generic, one size fits all" 
trio:

A 20/2.8
A 100/2.8 Macro
A* 300/4
