When I took the LX plunge I had hoped my Sunpack AF440 flash would work
with it, since it does not seem to be a digital unit. However, it seems to
suffers from some sort of incompatibilities with my LX - sometimes working
OK and other times not.

In looking at the Pentax offering, it looks like there's the AF400 - which
is a "potato masher" style unit, the AF280T, and the AF220T that will offer
TTL with the LX. I already have a 220T and it's OK, but IMHO not really
powerful enough for anything but direct flash - when I try bounce flash it
just does not have the power to make it work. It's gn 22 and the AF 280T is
gn 28 - so it seems that there is not a lot of difference between them.
That leaves the AF400, but I'm not too keen on the potato masher style - I
know it offers advantages but when I want those advantages I use a flash
bracket.

So - are there some more powerful (gn 40 or more) third party flashes out
there that are compatible with the LX?
