When I see these messages about plastic mounts being inferior I laugh. I
have a friend that owns and runs large camera repair place. He replaces many
more metal mounts than plastic as the plastic is more forgiving. It yields
and then returns to a serviceable state rather than deform which destroys
the metal mount. He says you are much less likely to damage the lens with a
plastic mount.
