There seems to be a commercial grade and a consumer grade of almost
anything. Or, if you prefer, an industrial grade and consumer grade. I
admit that successful professional photographers tend to use the heavy
duty, more reliable equipment, and they tend to choose the stuff that
will be able to stand up to very hard use. Feature sets usually take
second priority, with some notable exceptions. Image stabilization
seems to be a feature preferred by PJ's and nature photographers so they
tend to shoot with the cameras that allow them to use lenses that
provide that feature. As it happens, those are features of the
commercial grade (or industrial grade) camera makers. Though you can
use those lenses on their consumer grade bodies, as well.

The working pros that I know use their gear pretty hard but they have it
serviced on a regular schedule even when it is still working properly.
Of course they have plenty of backup gear, so they don't have to
postpone work while things are being serviced.
