How interesting, Steve! We know that Vivitar made at least two of
them!  <g>
But, you're right! It is a sturdy cuss!
Built in 1968, it cost $200 back then. The list I got this information
from says this is $900+ in 1998 dollars!
I'm going to be doing some sharpness testing this weekend, if all goes
well. 
I'll report back!
