Have you ever missed a shot because you did not have a Grip attached? Ever
switched over to the gripless PZ-1p and felt that awkward, "out of balance"
moment?
That's why you want and need it.
As to cost? You could get more on eBay with a grip* attached than without one.
*You shouldn't underestimate the "cool" factor of any camera wearing a
Grip/vertical release.
MZ-S without VG/booter? A 35mm SLR camera.
MZ-S ~with~ VG/booster? COOL.
