Calgary is hosting the World Cup Speed Skating this weekend. I will be
there both days with my K1000, a monopod, some 800 speed film and 3
lenses trying to _freeze_ these skaters in mid-stride. I am using a SMC
Takumar 50mm f1.4 screwmount and K adaptor to try to get a couple of the
skaters in the shot at the same time and improve my lighting options;
SMC Pentax A 28mm f2.8 to get some of the lines of 5 or 6 skaters
passing like a train; and a SMC Pentax F 35 - 135 zoom for the
individual head on shots.
These guys are fast. The only shots I am confident about with today's
rolls of film are of the crew slowly placing the individual red cups on
the ice to make the lines, and the Zamboni. At least my seat selection
was good, front row, just into the curve, at the end of the strait
stretch.
