I do not figure the dog M1.4 came from the factory that way. I do figure the differences between #2 and #3 were sample to sample variation. On the other hand many companies now seem to feel it is cheaper to use their customers for the final quality control check.
No double, I am the authorized off-shore Pentax QC inspector and I have trapped quite a bit of faulty lenses lately. :-)
