My office scanner, which we use mostly for OCR, makes poor scans of
photographic prints, and can't handle either slides or negatives at all.
So, I was thrilled when my local supermarket brought in a Kodak Picture
Maker to the Photo Department.
Not only does it scan prints fairly well, but it also has an attached
negative scanner, labled "Nikon LS-2000." The instructions say that it can
scan up to 5 JPEGs or 1 high-res file on a Picture Disk. I have no problem
getting 5 scans from prints, but I usually get only one or two from
negatives because it will only do one strip of negs at a time without
starting over, at which point it usually, but not predictably, overwrites
the first scans. The staff have not a clue.
Does anyone have experience with this type of photo kiosk? Any help or
suggestions would be appriciated, as I have quite a few negatives I want to
scan (all taken with Pentax cameras, of course!)..
Thanks, Dan
