My experience with small, English sports cars has taught me that the English are born tinkerers. Both my Austin Healey 3000 and (earlier) my MG Midget required constant tinkering with the carbs, throttle assembly, timing etc. This was also true of my friend's Jag XKE. That the English are born tinkerers and love it can be the only explanation.
