<<Asahi Pentax KM Introductory Brochure (K series intro) >>
Zooms in the new "K-bayonette" line at introduction...
SMC Pentax 45-125 f/4
SMC Pentax 85-210 f/4.5
SMC Pentax 135-600 f/6.7
in addition there were 23 other fixed focal length lenses
from 17mm f/4 fish-eye to 1000mm f/8 super telephoto.

Until the introduction of the "K-bayonette" lens line,
zooms were pretty rare and expensive.

For whatever reasons, I tend to overlook the later zooms as not part of the M lens
line. Only the 40-80mm and 75-150mm had the common 49mm front filter size. For
example, the M35-70mm is way to big to be called an M lens and comes with a 58mm front
filter size. The AF35-70 f/2.8 is a giant! I've never really thought of them as M
philosophy lenses.
