Of course where appropriate it excels wide open just like the 20mm Bow Wow Tak. 
There is evidence of softening at the edges and a global reduction in contrast 
but in many low light situations this behaviour can indeed be an advantage. The 
50/1.2 lenses perform as well if not better than any other 50s from 5.6 onwards 
and infinitely better at f1.2 than a slower lens :-)
