of all my friends outside of PDML that i know with DSLRs, all of them have Digital Rebels except one, and she has a D100. all SLRs produced are less than 1/20 the number of digital P&S cameras produced in 2003. DSLRs made up about 1/4 of the total SLR production. then you add in all the P&S digital cameras out there in use that were bought before 2003. in my travels, i see very few SLRs at all, let alone DSLRs. about the only concentration is inside the B&H store when i am shopping.
