Yup. Scan sucks.
On the print, one can clearly read the back of the dog's sweater: "Queen's University", which is the university in Kingston, Ontario, where this photo was taken. I was in the candy store with my daughter Claire - do we sense a pattern here? <g>
BTW, neg was waaaay overexposed in the background; I was metering off the girl/dog, and that was pretty much nailed. But, with the late day sun streaming in through those windows, the background was very very bright. The lab did a wonderful job burning the background to make it more acceptable than I had a right to expect.
Thanks for the comments, Shel (and everyone else). It was nice to have a camera where I could fire off three quick ones before the scene was lost, and she never heard a thing. <g>
