Bruce,

That's a well considered and level-headed post, and
good advice to ~anyone~ on the list, IMHO.

I think that the only thing I might take minor issue
with is your statement that some things have "already
been decided before [Antonio] came on board". I'm
guessing that what you may have meant is that these
things have been discussed before, and a consensus or
understanding had been reached.

I just wouldn't want Antonio or anyone else to think
of Tom's FAQ as inflexible rules that can never be
changed, or that have to be formally voted on to amend
or something. Conditions change, membership shifts,
individual's opinions change.

In fact, they aren't rules or guidelines at all, just
a few answers to some oft asked questions that often
comes from newcomers to the list.

Now, Antonio, I'll address this to you, because even
though I've filtered off all your posts, I of course
can see some of your posts when I read responses to to
them:

I think part of the problem with this particular
thread, is that you just came in firing with all
cannons, appearing to yell and scream that you don't
want to be bound by these rules, and who is Tom anyway
to try to impose these on you, and you disagree with
them, and all the Crusty Old Farts on this list
control things, and you're not going to let all us
mean people tell you what to do.

Had you read a few earlier posts on the thread, Tom
actually posted several drafts, asked for any
suggested amendments/additions, and after receiving
those, came up with a more or less "final copy", and
even then he made it clear that he was amenable to
changes.

This was in fact nothing "imposed" by anybody, it was
as democratic as can be.

Had you perhaps been a little more diplomatic, quietly
indicating exactly what portions of the FAQ you
disagreed with, perhaps Tom might have considered your
suggestions and amended appropriately. But you just
went and jumped all over him and your other perceived
enemies, then wonder why everyone's against you.

I'm not trying to be a jerk, and despite what you may
think (and despite some angry words I may have had
with you in the past), I don't dislike you. I'm
genuinely trying to be a help, and maybe even extend
an olive branch.

That's my two cents. The sun just came out, and I
have to get on my bike and go for a ride - well, I
don't have to, I choose to.

Please, Antonio, take this in the spirit it's
intended.

cheers,
frank
