Aye, but for how long?

And if one is to forfeit use of their K/Ms, why not go somewhere with
IS for example? And should they do a Cotty and do it quickly? Is the
way to a larger market one that sheds the existing customers? In this
case in particular (with Canon's hype-domination) I don't think so.
Facts speak for themselves: they tried to stop *ist-D users (how much
was it to the early adopters) from using K/Ms. Did their sales go
through the roof? No. Did they backpedal? Yes. Am I still feeling
threatened they may try it on again? Yes.

Pentax have/had a USP: backward compatibility. My take is they have so
few of them, they should not let go.

p.s.: Many thanks to Mark Roberts (I think it was) for the pragmatic
analysis of cost per customer. Thing is, the reason to buy Pentax is
less and less pragmatic. Proof: they back-pedalled and offered the
hack. Why not assure us further by biting the bullet, or come out,
end speculation and face the music.
