There is a place in NZ you can send your film to, and
get it back scanned onto CD for less than NZ$20
(c.US$9). It's not that expensive anymore. And plenty
of computer packages you get the scanner free.
But now that I have my new scanner, I just need to get
the internet connection (still using the computer at
work).
