Last year my in-laws came over to visit. Before they
came to Ottawa they did a trip through places in the
Cdn Rockies. Father-in-law brought along his Spottie
and 55mm lens. Travelling light, he left his other
lenses behind but brought along a teleconverter too
for the versatility.
The idea was good, but unfortunately he chose a 2x
converter of less than stellar quality. He was just so
incredibly disappointed that this year he arrived
sporting a tiny Minolta dimageX.

Having said that, if I had to choose just one fixed
lens to take on a trip, then I'd go with a 50mm too.
