Now we are really into politics.

Please, most people in the western world think that their own country is the best, and most of us also known people who say that they would really like to change. Don´t make this into a "my country is the best" discussion. That is too nationalistic, at least to me.

Germany (and Europe in general, as well as US) could out-produce and out-engineer Japan & China. It takes one thing. Lower taxes. Give people the freedom to grow themselves and they will. Give them the opportunity to both succeed and fail and they'll always try harder. Being under socialism must be depressing. (I've friends from France who are seeking US citizenship for that very reason -- open opportunity.)

Most Americans do NOT have 22 days of vacation!
Something like 13 is more like it. The rest is sick leave
allowance...usually 5 to 10 days.

So Americans have lots of money and no time to enjoy it and the Europeans
have no money but lots of time off. BTW, Europeans add sick leave on top
of that 34-day average allowance too! :-) Don't forget we're supposed to
be working less hours a day as well compared to Americans (Germany again
is one of the lowest with something like 34 hours/week). Makes you wonder
how we get anything done over here, eh? What do you mean you think we
don't? :-)
