Amita,

Haven't used it, as it wasn't out for Pentax initially (only
Canon/Nikon), but I do have the 28-75 DI Tamron which came out just
before this one. The 28-75 is a great lens and is very sharp for a
zoom. Testing against my FA 50/1.4 and Tamron 90/2.8 SP Macro, I can
tell you that it is NOT as sharp as those primes, but very good
nonetheless.

Personally, after using and then buying the DA 16-45, that is the
route that I would go. It is slightly wider and slightly longer and
has the focus clutch and at least on the *istD, performed better than
the FA*24/2 that I used to own. It is a marvelous lens. I have not
heard on the web much clamoring at all about the Tamron - even though
I have heard tons about the 28-75 Tamron that I have. I have also
heard from almost all owners of the DA 16-45 that it is truly a great
lens, optically. I would be quite surprised if the Tamron was as
good.

Anyway, my 0.02 worth, HTH.

Bruce
