To the best of my knowledge both the Sigma DG and Tamron Di
lenses are full frame 35mm.
They are in some way "optimised" for digital.
This is a quote from the description of the 17-35 EX DG:

"The design concept of this lens is especially suitable
for the characteristics of Digital SLR Cameras."

Exactly what this means to 35mm users I don't know,
however I will soon as I have ordered the Tamron
Di 28-75/2.8 for use on both the D and film 35s.

For now I will stay away from the Pentax DAs except
for the 16-45/4 that came with the D.
I am still a long way from convinced that the D is
suitable for subjects such as highly detailed
landscapes.

IOW: "I reserve the right to shoot whatever works best!"
