I've poked around and noted some galleries "call for submissions", some of which require a "processing fee" just to submit a proposal. It's usually (I suppose) a nominal fee of around $25, but it still seems a rip-off. Another gallery I saw charges per piece to ~show~ stuff. I mean, they'll get a healthy commission if you sell; if their curator isn't doing his/her job, and they put crap up on the walls that doesn't sell, they shouldn't still make money, should they? I guess that's capitalism in action - you don't like the rules, you don't submit. If they don't get enough/any submissions, they'll have to lower/eliminate such fees. I'll do my part for the process by not submitting to those places. cheers, frank -- "Sharpness is a bourgeois concept." -Henri Cartier-Bresson
