I have included a Lumiquest Pocket Bouncer in my walking-around kit, which seems to be a good compromise between performance and wieldiness. The extra height eliminates red-eye, too. On an AF280T I still get enough light from it in most situations, although a camera with TTL flash support and the consequent ability to open the aperture right up is very useful.
