Come to think of it, Shel, IIRC, some time ago Polaroid offered a 
freebie that could do post-hoc dust and scratch corrections. Never used 
it, so I cannot say anything about it. Memory could be faulty. Worth 
searching for it?

You might try rec.photo.digital with your question. If the Polaroid 
applet isn't available any more from Polaroid, someone might be able to 
e-mail it to you.

If you try rec.photo.digital, be sure to limit how many messages your 
browser downloads. It's a busy place. Try setting the limit at 500.

There might also be a forum on dpreview where you could find help.
