The Canon A series seems to be a good value and offers decent pics. I've got
an A70, and my only complaint is the strong flash and laggy shutter release
(which affects all P&S AFAICT). A friend asked for advice on a digi P&S; he
was looking at the Canon S500. I pointed him in the direction of the A95,
which is essentially the same optics and software, but in a slightly less
elegant package and without the pain of a proprietary power source. He's now
totally happy with the A95.
