I just wish there was some peace and solitude to disrupt in London, but whilst it may be a historic city, it is also a modern, bustling and noisy one. And big.

I can see where DUKWs could be a nuisance in a quiet spot in Hawaii, however.

In Hawaii, particularly in Maui, they have been widely criticized by full-time residents and regular visitors as ugly, noisy, disruptive and not in harmony with the rest of the community and the resorts. I would imagine that some would find there presence in a historic city like London to be less than desirable.

In Hawaii, they are also able to access places that were not easily located or accessable by car, such as isolated oceanfront neighborhoods, disrupting the peace of solitude of those who live there. A number of politicians in Hawaii have proposed banning them, but as of my last trip, in summer '04, some were still operating.

Those amphibious tour vehicles have been greeted with harsh public opposition in a lot of places where they have been tried, such as in Hawaii. How are they doing in London? Have there been outcries from the locals or from the government?

In what context Dan?
