ok, i agree with your point. but it raises a bunch of questions:

what does this piece of software costs?
$600 (retail)? $149+$50 (and old PS + upgrade)?

why kicking $400 off the sticker OK? if that's really
OK, why not $401? and so on? 

if you are paying $200 for something that retails $600 are you
then stealing?

i am not asking from a legal standpoint (which is pretty clear:
you must do what they tell you to do, but laws are messy and 
change all the time. besides,  in georgia oral sex is a crime), 
but from a common sense.

if you really believe that it costs $600, well, that's it. pay it.
do you believe it costs $200? or maybe $100? or...?

why winxp, which is vastly more complex piece of software
costs so much less?

if i think a lens costs way too much, i'd buy a used one for
as little as i can. am i stealing from pentax?

and, speaking about open source. why is it morally ok to use
gimp for free? after all, the developers of gimp have to eat too,
don't they?
