it is not true in Pentax's case. the Photoshop converter is much more accurate. delta e values come in almost half that of the Pentax software. the Pentax software is acceptable by today's standards, but Photoshop's Camera Raw is about as good as you can get using any software.

it's not unusal for the camera maker own software to have quite better &
more accurate colours then Adobe's (as well as more accurate white
balance presets). It's the case with Nikon as well. Unfortunately,
Nikon's software while giving the best quality is also the most slow
and hardy to use. That's also not unusal for the camera maker own
software... (apparently not the case with Kodak's PhotoDesk, I heard).
