They use VHF two-way radios, for the most part. I know this because, for the convoy down to Grandfather Mountain in June, Dave and Frank brought along a pair of walkie-talkies so we could easily communicate between vehicles. Frank kept lapsing into "radio talk" without thinking. We thought he was just being a goof (sans roof) with all his "10-4" and "10-9" talk, but it turned out to be just force of habit :) -- Mark Roberts Photography and writing www.robertstech.com
