Hi Shel. I think there are two types of D and Ds's out there. One that is realativly problem free, and 1 that seems to have these "glitches". Mine is the latter. I can have fresh batteries in the camera, take a few pic's then the icon shows empty, and i cannot do anything with the camera. A simple turn off/on solves that for a few days. I do have a problem when using pop up flash. After 1-2 shots(and this is sometimes not always) it will show delpeted and i have to turn of/on. Minor snag AFAIC with a first generation Dslr. You should see what happens when a set of EN-4's for the Nikon D1 start acting up.:-)Purple images, black screens, and the icon shows full. Dave
