The F1.7x is an excellent quality converter, I used it and an M50/1.4 for a long time as my only macro lens. As far as the mirror lens goes it depends on the speed of the lens. With a lens slower than f/3.5 autofocus won't work very well, slower than f/4.0 probably not at all.
